Year 10 Work - Term 2

Boys without access to a printer can email me prints using the A4 Powerpoint Printing Template below. The pictures need to fit into the spaces left in sketchbooks, so please ensure pictures are measured accurately using the the rulers on the template.

Week 1

Work Set (Continue with Development 1): All Cezanne Artists Research sketchbook pages we completed last term. The last work set before Christmas was to start the First Development piece of work. This is normally about A3 in size. Students can choose which materials to use. Remember the development pages in your sketchbook should include the following,

1 Background colour

2 Title

3 Artwork

4 A Plan of the composition (often a line drawing or on tracing paper)

5 Step-by step photograph of the development piece with annotations, linking the work with Cezanne’s work (composition, set-up, style, techniques, use of colour etc.)

Week 2

Work Set (Development 1): Complete ‘Development 1’ work (sketchbook page and ‘black sheet’ work) by the beginning of next week.

Examples of Development Work (sketchbook and ‘black sheet’ work) shown before Christmas can again be seen below. Please remember that in all of the examples below Development 3 was the first Final Piece boys produced in Year 10, and that students have also benefited from three extra weeks to improve this work in Year 11 (one week for each piece of development).

Week 3

Work Set (Development 2) : ‘Development 2’ work is again set out the same as ‘Development 1’ work. Ensure the work is produced in a different material and using a different composition. ‘Development 2’ is normally slightly bigger and more complex than ‘Development 1’.

Week 4

Work Set (Development 2) : As ‘Week 3’ work. You must complete ‘Development 2’ work (sketchbook page and ‘black sheet’ work) by the beginning of next week.

Week 5

Work Set (Final Piece) : The ‘Final Piece’ work is again set out the same as ‘Development 1 and 2’ work. Ensure the work is produced in your best material (it’s a good idea to practice as much painting as you can in Year 10) and using a different composition. The ‘Final Piece’ is normally slightly bigger and more complex than Development 2’.

Week 6

Work Set (Final Piece) : You must complete the ‘Final Piece’ work (sketchbook page and ‘black sheet’ work) by after half-term. You will then start the ‘Second GCSE Project’. This is where you have a free choice - subject to approval.

It is strongly advised that students also decide on their chosen topic for the ‘Second GCSE Project’, and take any necessary photographs, over Half-Term. See the example shown under Week 7 work below.

HALF TERM

Week 7

Work Set : There will now be a week cross-over period when the FIRST GCSE Project is completed, and the SECOND GCSE Project begins. Students will need to choose the topic for the Second Project and complete the Title Page and Pencil Drawing sketchbook book pages by the end of Week 9. Lesson 8

Work Set : Students will need to complete the Title Page and Pencil Drawing sketchbook book pages by the end of Week 9.

Week 9

Work Set : Students will need to complete the Pencil Drawing for the ‘black sheet’ this week.

Deadline : The deadline will always be set on MILK.

Week 10

Work Set : Students will need to complete the Painting sketchbook pages this week.

Deadline : The deadline will always be set on MILK.

Week 11

Work Set : Students will need to complete the Painting for the ‘black sheet’ this week.

Deadline : The deadline will always be set on MILK.

Week 12

Work Set : Students leave two sketchbook pages for the ‘Material of their own choice’ work. This week we start to discuss artists’ research work.

Week 13

Work Set : Students refine their choice for artists’ research work and plan out the 8 sketchbook pages. Over the Easter Break students continue with this work but obviously students have revision for Summer examinations.

Please note the 8 pages artists’ research needs to be complete one week after the Year 10 Summer examinations. That is week 4 of next term.
