Year 10 Work - Term 1
Boys without access to a printer can email me prints using the A4 Powerpoint Printing Template below. The pictures need to fit into the spaces left in sketchbooks, so please ensure pictures are measured accurately using the the rulers on the template.
***Photography work will be will be set on CLASSCHARTS and emailed directly to the student***
Week 1
Work Set : The first week will be used to,
Introduce the Project 1 : Still-Life to students
Start the sketchbook Title Page
Set up a still-life and take photographs
For homework students will need to complete the Title Page and watch the ‘Still Life Project Outline’ video below,

Week 2
Work Set (Initial Prep Drawing Work WEEK 1 of 2) : Over the next 6 weeks students will complete Initial Preparatory Work (both sketchbook and black sheet exhibition work) in Pencil, Paint and a material of their own choice (2 weeks for each). Students need to watch the ‘Still Life Project Initial Preparatory Work’ video below,

To start over the next 2 weeks students complete 2 sketchbook pages of drawing and still-life research work (normally in class), and also a pencil drawing for the black sheet exhibition work (normally at home).

Week 3
Work Set (Initial Prep Drawing Work WEEK 2 of 2) : Students need to continue to work on the 2 sketchbook pages of drawing and still-life research work, and also a pencil drawing for the black sheet exhibition work .

Week 4
Work Set (Initial Prep Painting Work WEEK 1 of 2) : Over the next 2 weeks students complete 2 sketchbook pages of painting and still-life research work (normally in class), and also a painting for the black sheet exhibition work (normally at home).

Week 5
Work Set (Initial Prep Painting Work WEEK 2 of 2) : Students need to complete the 2 sketchbook pages of painting and still-life research work, and also a painting drawing for the black sheet exhibition work .

Week 6
Work Set (Initial Prep Colour Pencil Drawing/Own Choice Work WEEK 1 of 2) : Over the next week students complete 2 sketchbook pages of colour pencil/own choice material work, and also start work on the black sheet exhibition work.
For homework over half-term students need to complete Initial Prep Colour Pencil Drawing/Own Choice Work WEEK 2 of 2 by completing the 2 sketchbook pages of of colour pencil/own choice material work, and also a colour pencil piece/own choice material work for the black sheet exhibition work .
Students should also use half term as an opportunity to improve any of the previous Initial Preparatory Work produced this term in readiness for final assessment.

Week 7
Work Set (Initial Prep Colour Pencil Drawing/Own Choice Work WEEK 2 of 2) : Students need to complete the 2 sketchbook pages of colour pencil/own choice material work, and also start work on the black sheet exhibition work.
Half-term will be used as improvement time and a opportunity to start the Artist Research Work.

HALF TERM
Week 8
Work Set (Artist Research Work WEEK 1) : Over the next 6 weeks students will complete Artist Research sketchbook work (there is no black sheet exhibition work). Students start the research work sketchbook pages on Cezanne’s ‘Life’ and ‘Style/Technique’ and then go on to the sketchbook pages on Cezanne’s various genres of work - ‘Landscape’, ‘Portraiture’ and ‘Still-Life’. Week 9
Work Set (Artist Research Work WEEK 2) : Students complete the research work sketchbook pages on Cezanne’s ‘Life’ and ‘Style/Technique’ and also the sketchbook pages on Cezanne’s various genres of work - ‘Landscape’, ‘Portraiture’ and ‘Still-Life’.

Week 10
Work Set (Artist Research Work WEEK 3) : Students start the research work sketchbook pages on copying a Cezanne still-life painting or section of a painting.
Next week there will be a progress check on the first 4 artists’ research pages.

Week 11
Work Set (Artist Research Work WEEK 4) : Students complete the research work sketchbook pages on copying a Cezanne still-life painting or section of a painting.
This week there will be a progress check on the first 4 artists’ research pages.

Week 12
Work Set (Artist Research Work WEEK 5) : Students start the research work sketchbook pages on analysing a Cezanne still-life painting.

Week 13
Work Set (Artist Research Work WEEK 6) : Students complete the research work sketchbook pages on analysing a Cezanne still-life painting.

Week 14
Work Set (Development 1): This week students will be starting the First Development piece of work. This is normally about A3 in size. Students can choose which materials to use. Remember the development pages in sketchbooks should include the following,
1 Background colour
2 Title
3 Artwork
4 A Plan of the composition (often a line drawing or on tracing paper)
5 Step-by step photograph of the development piece with annotations, linking the work with Cezanne’s work (composition, set-up, style, techniques, use of colour etc.)
Students start by watching the ‘Still Life Project - Development Work’ video below. Then choose which one of group still-life pictures (used for initial prep) on which to base the development piece.

Also over the Christmas Break students need to view the ‘good’ examples of Development Work (sketchbook and ‘black sheet’ work) by previous Year 11 students. Please remember that in all of the examples below Development 3 was the first Final Piece boys produced in Year 10, and that students have also benefited from three extra weeks to improve this work in Year 11 (one week for each piece of development).
