CURRENT WORK

Work Set : Fine Artists - This week you need to complete the third two pages of Artists Research. This includes a detailed analysis of a painting.

Look back at your Cezanne analysis work and make certain it’s a step up in quality.

If any Fine Art student has not sent me their initial prep on a PowerPoint (for detail feedback), they must do so by the end of this weekend. - Deadline: Sunday 10th May

Photographers - The following two weeks are for improvement and catch up work. By the deadline you should have completed the first research stage of the project, plus 2 photo-shoots (Contact Prints, best images selected, Artists’ Research, and editing).

Look back at your previous project analysis work and make certain these ones are a step up in quality.

If any Photography student has not sent me their initial prep and photo-shoot 1 work (for detail feedback), they must do so by the end of this weekend.- Deadline: Sunday 10th May

NOTE : You will notice that I’ve set this deadline for two weeks, not one. This includes an additional improvement/ catch-up week.

Deadline: Wednesday 20th May

Previous Work

Work Set : Fine Artists - This week you need to complete the second two pages only of Artists Research. This is general information on the Artist’s technique and you also need to copy one of the artist’s works that is ‘relevant’ to your project (or copy a relevant section).

Remember quality and detail are every thing, especially as there is none of your actually artwork on these two pages, so spend time on presentation like heading and borders etc.

Also look again look at the example project on the main GCSE section (the A level page might also give you some good ideas) of sacart for ideas.

Photographers - Last week you should have started the PowerPoint slides for the ‘Second Photoshoot’ (Contact Prints, best images selected, Artists’ Research, and editing). Again there should be approx. 10 slides. This weeks deadline is to do the second half the work so either start with the photography work or the research work - whatever you didn’t do last week. Send me your PowerPoint work please.

NOTE : in 2 weeks we will have an improvement week when I will be rude about your work and then allow you to make the necessary changes.

Deadline: Wednesday 6th May

Work Set : Fine Artists - Leave a double page after your 3rd Initial Prep (MATERIAL OF YOUR OWN CHOICE). This is because we complete the 4th piece of Initial Prep over the Summer or during improvement time in Year 5.

This week you need to complete the first two pages only of Artists Research. This is general information on the Artist’s life and work. Obviously some boys might be researching an individual artist (like you did for Cezanne) and some boys might be looking at an art movement (like you did for the Fauves), so the approach is slightly different. Remember quality and detail are every thing, especially as there is none of your actually artwork on these two pages, so spend time on presentation like heading and borders etc.

Also look again look at the example project on the main GCSE section of sacart for ideas.

Photographers - Start the PowerPoint slides for the ‘Second Photoshoot’ (Contact Prints, best images selected, Artists’ Research, and editing). Again there should be approx. 10 slides. This weeks deadline is to do half the work so either start with the photography work or the research work - it’s up to you. Send me your PowerPoint work please.

Deadline: Wednesday 29th April

Work Set : Fine Artists - Complete 3rd Initial Prep (MATERIAL OF YOUR OWN CHOICE) Double Sketchbook Page. Also complete the the work for the ‘Black Sheet’. Email photographs of the work please.

Photographers - Complete the PowerPoint slides for the ‘First Photoshoot’ (Contact Prints, best images selected, Artists’ Research, and editing) – approx. 10 slides. Send me your PowerPoint work please.

Deadline: Wednesday 22nd April

Work Set : Fine Artists - Complete 2nd Initial Prep (PAINTING) Double Sketchbook Page. Also complete the painting for the ‘Black Sheet’. Email photographs of the work please.

Photographers - Complete Initial Prep PowerPoint slides – approx. 8 – 10 slides for your third Photography project.. Send me your PowerPoint work please.

Deadline: Wednesday 1st April

year 5

THE ART GCSE COURSE HAS NOW ENDED AND THERE IS NO CURRENT WORK

The transition world we begin in one week for those boys considering studying Fine Art or Photography at A level.

Start Date: Thursday 7th May

Previous Work

Work Set : LAST WEEK EVERYONE!

Fine Artists and Photographers - So it’s quite simple, you need to complete the work described previously for the examination project and most importantly of all you need to meet the deadline.

This last week should be used as a catch up week to students to complete any missing work. In this way you are able to demonstrate that you have completed the work and were well prepared for the examination. I think it’s a good way to finish things off in these most unusual times and you can say to yourself (and everyone else) that when you start something, you finish it.

Hopefully we can still also have a GCSE Exhibition.

When school does resume I will obviously be asking you to bring in all of the work.

If you want feedback from me (I strongly suggest you should) I will do this on a ‘first come, first served basis’ (any requests for feedback received after Tuesday 28th April will not get a reply).

Fine Artists - will need to send me a picture of every double page in the sketchbook for the exam project (even if you’ve sent it before) and also pictures of the work for the two black sheets (Initial Prep and Development) by the deadline.

Photographers - will need to send me their final PowerPoint and final images by the deadline.

Deadline: Thursday 30th April (don’t ask for an extension as this is not possible)

Work Set : Fine Artists - Complete a Double Sketchbook Page planning out your FINAL PIECE (I suggest a very detailed pencil line drawing or fine liner piece). Also include a detailed written explanation/evaluation of the final piece, linking it to the question, artists you’ve been influenced by, and of course the meaning and reasons behind the work. MAKE THIS LAST PAGE A GOOD ONE! Send me photographs of the work please when complete.

Photographers - It is my strong suggestion that Photographers complete the work/editing that you would have produced in the 10hr exam. Also include a detailed written explanation/evaluation of the final photographs, linking it to the question, artists/editing techniques etc you’ve been influenced by, and of course the meaning and reasons behind the work. MAKE THESE LAST SLIDES A GOOD ONE! Send me your PowerPoint work and final images please when complete.

Obviously I understand Photographers may be re-editing existing images, especially so If you were unable to go out to take a 4th photo-shoot. Don’t forget to explain any constraints/difficulties and decisions you’ve been forced to take because of the Lockdown in the final evaluation.

Deadline: Thursday 23rd April

NOTE: The 10hr Art Exam would have been on Thursday 30th April and Friday 1st May. The last week (from 23rd April - 30th April) will be offered as a catch up week to students to complete any missing work.

When school does resume I will obviously be asking you to bring in all of the work.

Hopefully we can still also have a GCSE Exhibition.

Work Set : Fine Artists - Development 2 – Complete a Double Sketchbook Page planning out your development with example Artwork. Also complete the 2nd piece of development for the ‘black sheet’. Email photographs of the work please.

Photographers - Complete Photo-shoot 4 (contact sheets, best images selection, artist research, editing, final images and evaluation). Send me your PowerPoint work and final images please.

If you are unable to go out to take a 4th photo-shoot you should aim to do some interesting/creative with existing images. This might simple mean editing them in a different way (i.e. looking at creative black & white techniques).

Deadline: Thursday 16th April

Work Set : Fine Artists - Development 1 – Complete a Double Sketchbook Page planning out your development with example Artwork. Email photographs of the work please. Also email me photographs of your 8 pages of a’artists’ research’ if you have not done so already.

Photographers - Complete Photo-shoot 3 (contact sheets, best images selection, artist research, editing, final images and evaluation). Send me your PowerPoint work and final images please.

Deadline: Thursday 2nd April
