By the 8th July Fine Artists should have completed all of DEV2 (sketchbook work and main A3 piece) and also have drawn out and started painting their FINAL PIECE.
By the 8th July Photographers should have completed all work (contact sheets, artists research, editing and evaluations) except the editing and evaluations of their final photo-shoot.
Previous Work
TUTORIALS BY PHONE will start shortly and you will be allocated a in time that corresponds with your latest assessment that will be sent to parents/carers on Monday 25th June (so please submit any missing work on a PowerPoint by Sunday evening at the latest if you want it to be included in the assessment).
Initially I will focus on Group 1 students who have completed the work set. For the students who are behind with work (Group 2 and 3) this should give you a few extra days to catch up/improve and submit work. There are also a very small number of students not producing sufficient work (Group 4) where the tutorial will merely involve discussing problems, possible solutions, and outlining the impact not producing work will have on next year and GCSE Art in general.
In the Phone Tutorial we will discuss improvements, linking work (initial prep and artists’ research together) and planning out development work and deciding on a final piece,.
Remember to please send me an up-to-date PowerPoint of all of your work by the day before the phone tutorial.
Deadline: Phone Tutorials will be Friday 15th June - Friday 3rd July
Fine Artists - You should now be completing your Development 1 piece. Remember I need to see a detailed drawing (but not shading) of the composition in your sketchbook. I will then approve it so you can start to add colour.
Photographers - You should now be at the artists research stage for Photoshoot 3
Deadline: Wednesday 10th June
Fine Artists - You should now have completed,
All Initial Prep work in pencil, paint, and own choice material (this includes 6 sketchbook pages and 3 pieces for the black sheet) - this should have now been submitted on a PowerPoint
All Artists Research work - this should also have been submitted on a PowerPoint
Next you need to plan out your Development 1 piece by completing a double Sketchbook Page that includes planning out your Development 1 with example Artwork. Look back to how you did this in the Sea-Life project. You need to make it clear how you development work links with your initial prep and with the artists research work. So for example in the Sea Life project should have included things that you did for initial prep and you worked in the style of the Fauves (bright colour or short brush strokes or both)
Photographers - You should have completed,
All Initial Prep work (approx 8-18 PowerPoint slide)
All of Photoshoot 1 - contact sheet, best images selection, artist research, editing, final images and evaluation (approx. 8 -10 PowerPoint slides)
All of Photoshoot 2 - contact sheet, best images selection, artist research, editing, final images and evaluation (approx. 8 -10 PowerPoint slides)
Next you need to start Photoshoot 3 - take the photographs make a contact sheet and select the best images
Deadline: Wednesday 3rd June
Work Set : Fine Artists - This week you need to complete the third two pages of Artists Research. This includes a detailed analysis of a painting (remember how you were taught to do this when we did an analysis of Derain’s painting of ‘Big Ben’ in the Fauve Sea-Life Project).
Look back at your Fauve analysis work and all how other boys have done this in the example project on the main Y3 and GCSE section of sacart for ideas.
If any Fine Art student has not sent me their initial prep on a PowerPoint (for detail feedback), they must do so by the end of this weekend. - Deadline: Sunday 10th May
Photographers - The following two weeks are for improvement and catch up work. By the deadline you should have completed the first research stage of the project, plus 2 photo-shoots (Contact Prints, best images selected, Artists’ Research, and editing).
If any Photography student has not sent me their initial prep and photo-shoot 1 work (for detail feedback), they must do so by the end of this weekend.- Deadline: Sunday 10th May
NOTE : You will notice that I’ve set this deadline for two weeks, not one. This includes an additional improvement/ catch-up week.
Deadline: Wednesday 20th May
Work Set : Fine Artists - This week you need to complete the second two pages only of Artists Research. This is general information on the Artist’s technique and boys often copy one of the works they study (or copy a relevant section).
Remember quality and detail are every thing, especially as there is none of your actually artwork on these two pages, so spend time on presentation like heading and borders etc.
Also look again look at the example project on the main Y3 and GCSE section of sacart for ideas.
Photographers - Last week you should have started the PowerPoint slides for the ‘Second Photoshoot’ (Contact Prints, best images selected, Artists’ Research, and editing). Again there should be approx. 10 slides. This weeks deadline is to do the second half the work so either start with the photography work or the research work - whatever you didn’t do last week. Send me your PowerPoint work please.
NOTE : in 2 weeks we will have an improvement week when I will be rude about your work and then allow you to make the necessary changes.
Deadline: Wednesday 6th May
Work Set : Fine Artists - This week you need to complete the first two pages only of Artists Research. This is general information on the Artist’s life and work. Obviously some boys might be researching an individual artist and some boys might be looking at an art movement (like you did for the Fauves), so the approach is slightly different. Remember quality and detail are every thing, especially as there is none of your actually artwork on these two pages, so spend time on presentation like heading and borders etc.
Also look again look at the example project on the main Y3 and GCSE section of sacart for ideas.
Photographers - Start the PowerPoint slides for the ‘Second Photoshoot’ (Contact Prints, best images selected, Artists’ Research, and editing). Again there should be approx. 10 slides. This weeks deadline is to do half the work so either start with the photography work or the research work - it’s up to you. Send me your PowerPoint work please.
Deadline: Wednesday 29th April
