Year 13 Major Project

This unit of work is about:

  • Completing the Personal Investigation Project and accompanying essay

  • Improving and developing practical and written skills, whilst drawing on previous work

  • Making major exhibition quality art work in all assessment objectives

UNIT VOCABULARY, ART & ARTISTS: Students choose their own appropriate vocabulary and art and artists to reference.

 

Weeks 1 - 5

Work Set : This project will be produced in the last 4 - 5 weeks of Year 12, the Summer Holidays, and the first term of Year 13.

Work Produced for the Year 13 Major project:

  • Three or four pieces of initial preparatory work (including photography) and associated sketchbook work

  • Artists’ research and investigations including copies of paintings

  • The critical study (essay)

  • Two or three pieces of development work and associated sketchbook work

  • Final art work and associated sketchbook work


During this first weeks of this Year 13 Major Project (called the ‘Personal Investigation’), ideas will, be discussed, links to previous work will be established, and the accompanying essay planned.

By the start of Year 13 (the beginning of September) students should have completed,

  • Three or four pieces of initial preparatory work (including photography) and associated sketchbook work

  • The Introduction to the accompanying essay

  • The first drafts to Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 of the essay

  • Ideally, also started the artists research sketchbook pages
